Competition Sparring Practice and exercise full control and learn various techniques with your sparring partner. Junior students practice single point touch-contact sparring while seniors practice continuous semi-contact free sparring. Students get a chance to use all the Taekwon-Do techniques they have learnt and put them into practice against an opponent. It is a semi contact sport. You do make contact but the students demonstrate control and a point scoring system determines a winner. Excessive or full contact is strictly prohibited. Students demonstrate their power through Breaking Techniques. Taekwon-Do competitions are very exciting to watch as there are many jumping, flying and spinning techniques you would not see in a full contact competition.
All students are required to have safety equipment to protect themselves and others in class before being allowed to train in sparring.
Closed hand gloves are needed along with gum shield and groin protectors.
